Pranas Pauliukonis
Senior Architect
Pranas (a.k.a. Pancake) comes to Big Huge Games from Tiburon, a division of Electronic Arts located in Orlando, FL. There, he worked as a programmer on the Madden football line, specializing in code optimization. On Madden 2001, he owned the in-game code for the PC version.
Pancake has a rich history of working on artificial intelligence, pattern recognition, and neural networks. He spent 3 years developing robotics, writing vision and path finding systems for autonomous vehicles. He was one of the pioneer programmers at Virginia Tech’s CAVE, a fully 3D projection system. It was while writing games for the CAVE that he decided games were the way to go.
Working closely with Brian Reynolds, Pancake develops much of the unit and strategic A.I. for the game, including path finding. This requires his wonderful combination of experience, creativity, and a keen ability to work well and adapt in the midst of other’s code.
Since he was 3 years old, Pancake dreamed of working for a company called Big Huge Games. Dreams really do come true.
