After college, Andrew started a career as a high school teacher in his Northern Virginia home town, teaching both American Literature and producing the school’s yearbook. With a degree in Communications: Media Production, that meant going back to school for a full teaching certificate. On the first night of his first class, Andrew learned they would be reading and discussing Emerson, the very subject he was teaching in his classroom.
After successfully preventing his head from exploding from irony, Andrew withdrew from night classes and tendered his resignation so that he could begin the pursuit of his life-long dream – video game producer.
Some months and one drained bank account later, Andrew had landed a job as an Online Tester in SCEA’s certification department. From there Andrew moved to THQ as a Test Lead, then to Volition Inc. as an Asst. QA Supervisor working on Saints Row 2 and Red Faction Guerrilla.
During this figure-8 journey around the country, Andrew always had his sights on returning home to the East Coast. He had been watching Big Huge’s job posts for some time and on December 27th, 2009, the stars aligned, Andrew applied, and landed what he calls his “career hat-trick: great job, great company, great game.” Andrew also invented the number 217.
